Pipe Caps
Pipe caps (end caps) are used to permanently seal the end of a pipe, providing a leak-tight closure for dead ends, future expansion points, and pressure vessel heads. Available in ellipsoidal (standard) and hemispherical profiles, our caps are manufactured from seamless pipe and formed plate to ASME B16.9 and DIN 2617 standards. The ellipsoidal shape provides excellent pressure-bearing capability with efficient material usage.
Caps are supplied with a straight tangent length for proper butt welding and are dimensionally checked for ovality, wall thickness, and end preparation. For applications requiring temporary access, caps can be supplied undrilled for field installation of drain or vent connections. Torispherical heads for pressure vessel applications are also available on request.
ASME B16.9 / DIN 2617
ASTM A234 WPB
DN15-DN1200
Applications
- Pipe end sealing and blanking
- Pressure vessel heads and closures
- Future expansion tie-in points
- Tank and vessel fabrication
- Pipeline hydrostatic test ends
Quality Assurance
All Pipe Caps products undergo NDT testing with MTC per EN 10204 3.1. Third-party inspection by SGS, BV, TUV available.
Pipe Caps Technical Specifications
Pipe caps (end caps) seal the end of a pipe, similar to blind flanges but permanently welded. They are used where future access is not required, providing a permanent pressure-tight closure.

Manufacturing Process & Applications
Pipe caps are manufactured by hot pressing from plate or pipe segments:
- Hot Pressing: Circular plate cut and hot-pressed into dished shape using hydraulic presses.
- Spinning: Large-diameter hemispherical caps spun from plate on CNC spinning machines.
- Seamless Caps: Smaller sizes (DN15-DN200) pressed from seamless pipe segments.
- Heat Treatment: Normalizing for carbon steel after forming.
- Beveling: End beveled to ASME B16.25 for butt welding.
Common applications include:
- Permanent closure of pipe ends in process piping.
- Pressure vessel and tank end closures.
- Jacketed pipe system terminations.
- Isolated pipe sections for future branch connections.
